Remember How to Live, Laugh and Love Like a Child
Many people believe that adulthood means that life is full of responsibilities, anxiety and doubt. Maybe that’s why we find so many adults in their 40s looking to live like their children. Others are so full of doubts and complaints that they just want to drop everything and run away.
If you have reached this point in your life it is time to take and example from children. They know how to live, laugh and love in a way that seems so natural it’s like there is nothing negative in life.
“Children see the magic because they look for it”
-Christopher Moore-
Rediscover what makes you shine
Children are like a sun that illuminates everything in its path. They don’t really know what worrying about the future is or the weight of responsibilities.
They never feel ashamed to fall down and start again, make a mistake or show their feelings.
All these features are what you must remember to go back to living, laughing and loving like a child. Every day you must give yourself time to discover and be excited by small details.
There is no magic recipe to forget your worries. You must allow yourself to see reality from a more positive and enthusiastic perspective.
What can you do to live, laugh and love as a child?
1. Laugh as much as you can and whenever you have the chance
No need to go through life making silly jokes or making fun of others. That doesn’t work. I’m talking about developing a sense of humor that makes you happy.
“Laughter is the sun that drives away the winter from the human face.”
-Victor Hugo-
2. Trust your superpowers
You don’t have powers? I challenge you to find five things that you’re good at. Keep in mind that they don’t have to be the most amazing abilities:
- Are you able to make others forget their problems with your jokes?
- Do you have the ability to prepare a delicious treat?
These are just two examples, but they are not the only ones nor are they last. A superpower is what makes you unique.
3. Dare yourself!
Children do not spend their days asking “Can I make x thing?” Do I have the ability to…? “. They just go and do things. Unfortunately, many adults forget that it is important to keep trying new things.
When was the last time you did something that made you insecure? This applies whether you are going out on a date or going skydiving. Do different things!
“Everything you want in life is out of your comfort zone”
-Robert Allen-
4. Go out with your friends
Have you noticed that children are always surrounded by more children? This makes them happy because they can share the good and bad times. These moments give us our greatest treasure: the memory of the best moments in life.
After all, what good is all the material and professional success if you have no one to share it with?
5. Be a rebel
I know you’re probably saying you don’t have time or you have tons of obligations that you can’t ignore. Don’t worry, you don’t need to leave your job to take the jump and travel the world (by the way, yes, it is possible even though it’s not easy).
Being a rebel means not complying.
Have you fallen in the monotony of the status quo? What are you doing there? Follow your dreams!
Children are always looking for new options. A new game or making new friends. They do not pigeonhole and that’s what allows them to be themselves and develop as individuals.
“We are here to take a bite of the universe. If not, what else are we here for? “
-Steve Jobs-
6. Hug your loved ones
If you have children or spend time with children, you already know that they can come at any time and hug you for no reason. Well, actually there is a reason: because they want to.
That’s how they show they love you and without a doubt you will see them laugh and enjoy the moment. That’s what life is about.
Do not be afraid that people will take this action the wrong way. Perhaps it will seem strange to them if you never do it, but afterwards they’ll feel so good that they’ll make it part of their lives too.
So? Are you ready to live, laugh and love as a child? Do not let the routine cause you to neglect your inner child. Whether you are 20 or 60 years old, you can surely bring him/her back and let them enjoy life.
Just do it!
