Self-esteem is a part of the recognition step. It’s that area in which independence, self-esteem, dignity, the feeling of being competent to achieve something safe to undertake goals, conquer spaces, love, and be loved is also integrated. According to Maslow, only when you dominate these dynamics can you aspire to the summit of self-realization.

It’s not like carving a figure from a piece of wood and being able to enjoy it forever.

These dimensions are generally sensitive. Sometimes, a disappointment, a mistake, and even a damaging relationship end up boycotting those psychological strengths in which you’ve invested so much for so long. Therefore, be forewarned and promote mental and emotional self-care. Here are some strategies that can help you:

  • Clarify your values and purposes. Be clear about what’s important to you, what you want from life, and what you expect for yourself.
  • Assume you’re not perfect. You have the right to make mistakes, fall, fail, and suffer when fate hits you. However, your ultimate obligation is to get back on your feet and learn.
  • Be compassionate with yourself and master your internal dialogue by being kind to yourself. Don’t act like your worst enemy; respect yourself.
  • Reinterpret your fears. Every time someone or something convinces you that you can’t handle something, ask them or figure out why. Reformulate your plan and remove fear from your mind if there’s no foundation for it.
  • Set achievable goals. That way, you’ll feel more solvent, capable, strong, and motivated.
  • Don’t let anyone limit your potential or question your capabilities. You deserve to get what you want.
