Use your Smile to Change the World
An anonymous ancient Greek philosopher said: “Smile at life and life will smile at you”. Sometimes, smiling is the best way to help change the world. When you use your smile, it reflects how we take things making us more flexible and strong in the most difficult situations in life.
A person who wears a smile, who is optimistic and happy, is less likely to suffer from diseases and lives longer. Emotionally stable people who are positive, hopeful, full of life, understanding, strong and happy in their lives enjoy better health.
Someone with a superficial lifestyle does not smile at life nor is he intelligent. In fact, optimists could better solve problems than pessimists who choose to ignore or evade the problem. Here, we talk about smile as a feature that acts as a cushion against many complicated situations.
“Use your smile to change the world and do not let the world change your smile”.

A drug called smile
Smile like laughter (whose nature is basically psychological) is a characteristic specific to humans. This behavior has an effect in the overall capacity for action of people, even on their physiological aspect. Therefore, the use of smile is a real therapeutic practice which is based on numerous studies and clinical results.
Humor and the use of smile are beneficial for a healthy body and, more importantly, in our psychological well-being. Among the benefits that we could mention are:
- Teaching people to be more humble.
- Helping others to act in a more relaxed way against excessive individualism.
- Eliminating fear of ridicule.
- Helping to make life relative by considering different perspectives that makes existence more complicated.
- Favoring the search for solutions to everyday problems.
- Encouraging adaptation to change.
- Diminishing the feeling of frustration from perception of our own limitations.
- Allowing us to defend ourselves from criticism or offensive that affects our emotional balance.
- Helping in preventing conflicts, acting as a cushion in negative situations.
“After every storm, the sun smiles; for every problem, there is a solution and the indisputable duty of the soul is to be in good spirits”.
Life is like a mirror, we get better results when we smile.
Sometimes, joy is the source of our smile. But at other times, smiling improves our mood when we are feeling bad. We often underestimate the power of small gestures like a caress, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear or an honest compliment that may have a potential to change a life.
Think about how much better this world would be if you use your smile more often. No need to talk; you do not have to agree on anything. All we have to do is to smile! Smile breaks barriers, relieves tension and is the first step to making a new friend.
Smiling makes us feel better about ourselves, even if we do not feel like it. If the sun is for flowers, smile is for humanity. For all of this and much more, smile. It’s a free therapy.
“Humor is not being afraid to think. It only shows that things can be seen in different ways that usual.”
Smiling is one of the most powerful, if not the only remedy against negative moods. Therefore, the next time you feel that you are “down” and that everything is going wrong, why not use your smile to face the world? After all, the worst that may happen is that you stay exactly the same, but the possible benefits of doing so are almost unimaginable.
Therefore, whenever you think you need it, use your smile as if were your best weapon because it is.
