Today Is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life

Today Is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life

Last update: 03 January, 2017

Today is a gift and that is why it is called the “present.” Aside from those kinds of phrases that you have surely read thousands of times, it would be good to reflect a little on the time you have left to live and how you will enjoy it. Of course we do not know when we will be leaving this beautiful world, so we must try to be better every day.

Today is the beginning of your new life. Today is the time to leave behind your mistakes and learn from them. Today is the beginning of a wonderful future full of satisfaction. You just have to decide to do it and make that necessary “break” to separate yourself from who you were yesterday.

Today is most important

Excess of the past or future prevents us from being happy in the present. We cannot change what has happened and what is about to happen is a mystery. If instead we think about today, we will be much happier. Do you want proof?

“Tomorrow I’ll start my diet.” “Next week I’ll call my friend.” “When I graduate I’ll have time to exercise”. All these future promises are the perfect excuse for not acting today.

It is true that the days have only 24 hours and we cannot do everything we want. But perhaps it is time to analyze what your priorities are and give them the importance they require.

Think of today as your last day

What would you do if for some reason you found out that today was the last time you’d see the sunrise? Who you would you visit? What words would you say? How would you feel? I suggest you do this exercise daily. It’s not so that you get depressed thinking about death, but rather take advantage of the hours in the best way.

Do not wait for tomorrow if you want to apologize, say I love you or give a hug. Today is the best time for reunions, unsaid words or the actions that were never thought of. If you don’t do it today, when will you? Do not let the opportunity go by. Do not save anything for the future because as you know it is quite uncertain.

Today will be a great day

At the precise moment when you realize how wonderful it is to live in the present and not yearn for the past or future, you can enjoy the smallest parts of your existence such as rain, a butterfly flying around you or those minutes you watch your sleeping child.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. This phrase is an ode to fullness, to being released from the chains and doing it it really does you a lot of good. Grudges, hatred, resentment and depression are feelings that weigh you down on your back and in your heart , and do not allow you to walk freely. With this break you’ve decided that by living today you can get rid of them to lighten each step.

Do not be afraid of this. Remember it is your greatest gift and nobody can take it away from you. No matter how old you are. If you are at the dawn or in the twilight of your life. Enjoy all you have around you, no matter how small.

You always have the possibility to start. Beginning today, become that person who you’d be proud of. Be your own hero. Take the opportunity to continuously improve. Do not forget to smile, be grateful, love and forgive.

Today is the most important day of your life. It is the ideal day to become a new being, full of good intentions and without any pressure, harmful feelings or ties to the past.

As you walk, look at the path, at your shoes and at the landscape around you. Do not turn your head to see what you left behind, or use binoculars to bring the future towards you. Step by step you will be closer to everything that you look for. Please do not forget that today is the beginning of something better. It is the first day of your new life.
