Are you happy with what you’re doing with your life? Think about it. It might be that you’re devoting your time to a job you don’t like, that you’re friends with the wrong person, or even that you’re not doing any of the things you like to do, making the excuse that you don’t have enough time.

We tend to go through life on autopilot, loaded with obligations and responsibilities without thinking about our personal well-being, like the protagonist of this short. The only thing we know how to do is forget about ourselves. We make ourselves invisible and we don’t even question whether we’re where we want to be, doing what we want to do, accompanied by the people we want to have by our side.

“The only way to do great work is to love what you do.”

-Steve Jobs-

Maybe you’ve just gotten so used to your routine that you don’t even consider the possibility of change. Have you thought about it? Habit might be a good friend of peace and tranquility, but it also has the ability to limit us and prevent our own social, personal, and professional growth.

The difference between habit and passion

It’s not the same to dedicate yourself to something because you feel a true calling and passion as it is to do a job that’s been forced upon you, that you’re not the least bit interested in. It’s not the same to be with the person that makes you happy as it is to be with someone you’re used to and comfortable with. It’s not the same to do things just to do them as it is to do them because they add a touch of flavor and color to your life.

There’s a difference between doing things out of habit and doing them out of passion. Habit entails automatism, inertia, a lack of thought. Passion entails life, desire, dreams, and color. There is emotion in passion, not in habit. Happiness lies in building your life and your opportunities around your passions and interests.

The world might desperately need people who love what they do, but above all, you need to do the things that you love, be with the people you love, and dedicate yourself to your passion. You can’t enjoy sameness, living the same way and feeling the same things all the time. Is it not true? Being happy takes effort.

“That is the secret of happiness and virtue — liking what you’ve got to do.”

-Aldous Huxley-

You need to love what you do

You need to reignite the light in your eyes. You need emotion and intensity to come back into your life. You need hope to appear, and you need to live your dreams. You need to love every day and everything that comes with it. You need to be the driving force of your life and be able to direct it where you want it to go, with the people you want and in the way that seems best to you.

At the risk of seeming idealistic, I can tell you that this is possible. It requires a lot of desire, courage, passion, curiosity, and hope.  Opportunities don’t come out of nowhere. You have to go and find them, and I can’t think of any other way than having a strong will to change and a large dose of effort to fight for your dreams.

You’ll achieve results, but only with time. You just have to decide that you want to take the wheel of your life and start to plant the seeds that will grow into fruit, little by little. I’m not saying it will be easy, and I’m not saying there won’t be obstacles, but I am saying that it will be one of the most beautiful and enjoyable things that you’ll do in your life. Fighting for what you want is priceless.

Do what you love, and you’ll be happy

You might feel like the protagonist of this short in the beginning; that you’re tired and wrapped up in an atmosphere of apathy and innertia, feeling unhappy that your dreams are on the waiting list, waiting for the perfect time to be fulfilled. But the perfect time doesn’t exist. You can create the perfect time to make your dreams reality.

Get inspired by the protagonist of this short who, tired of his situation, decides to fight for his dream and little by little is able to be happy. Tired of working at a food factory, he decides to take a huge turn in his life and starts to cook natural food, with the goal of cultivating a better world.

You can do it, too. All you have to do is find something that you love and go after it with patience, effort, and bravery, and above all, a lot of love in every action your take. The happiest people I’ve crossed paths with are the ones who figured out what they wanted to do and decided to go for it.

I hope you enjoy the short!
