Recover Your Self Confidence
Lack of self-confidence undermines more dreams than a lack of talent. You convince yourself that you are not good or competent enough. Over time, this conviction puts you into a pigeonhole and prevents you from trying new things.
Is that really the life that you desire? Or would you prefer to have a more full life? Confidence in yourself lets you see everything you are capable of. Everyone at some point has felt insecure, but mentally strong people know that you need to move forward. Keep these recommendations in mind and recover the confidence you have in yourself.
Recognize and accept your doubts
The first step to recovering the confidence in yourself is accepting that you have doubts. The sooner you do this, the easier it will be to change your perspective.
Don’t worry about the little things that make you doubt yourself, but don’t try to shut them out either. Avoiding seeing these things or denying them only gives them more power. Instead, accepting that they exist forces you to seek an alternative to move forward. When you focus on denying your doubts, you waste a lot of energy. The worst part is that, in the end, you can’t get ahead in your life.
Question the reasons behind your thoughts
The second step to recovering your confidence in yourself is questioning the origin of your doubts. Once you know what is generating your doubts, ask yourself where they are coming from.
- Why don’t I think that I can do something?
- Who told me to not try it?
- Did I ever fail when attempting this said thing? Why did I fail?
- What difference is there between the past attempts and now?
Questioning yourself forces you to see the problem from a more proactive point of view. It doesn’t matter what situation you are in, what matters is how you analyze it.
Seeking real factors will help you see things in a more realistic way. Keep in mind that this exercise will not give you more confidence. However, you will obtain something even more important: the keys to being successful in your search for self-confidence.
Think of the worst possible case scenario
The lack of self-confidence can lead you to have preconceived false beliefs. You’ll think that you have no other options or alternatives, and that everything will always go wrong. The key in this point is to give yourself the chance to imagine the worst possible case scenario. Ask yourself:
- What am I afraid of?
- What would happen if a certain thing happened?
- Where would I be?
- What could I do to move on and move forward?
- What opportunity could I have in that moment?
Of all of those questions, I think the last one is the most important. We tend to go through life believing that opportunities arrive spontaneously. The truth is that most of the opportunities that come into our lives are a direct result of our efforts.
I asure you that no situation in life will leave you with no options or alternatives. Sometimes you’ll have to put in a bit more energy and concentration, but there is always a viable way out. When you understand this, your self-confidence will grow exponentially.
Analyze your emotions
Your emotions play a more important role than you think in the amount of confidence you have. Anxiety will make you feel insecure, incapable and will prevent you from making decisions. Thus, you should pay a lot of attention to what you are feeling and the message.
In order to recover your self-confidence, you’ll have to take a great leap of faith in yourself. If you are afraid, you should figure out where that fear originates and how you could dominate it.
It will be easier for you to let yourself get carried away by your fears and then blame the circumstances. The problem is that this leads to sadness, depression and lost dreams.
Analyze each emotion and when you see that none of them have a real basis, change your path. Start with the most simple decisions and little by little your self-confidence will lead you to new challenges.
Focus on improving your current reality
Many problems with your self-confidence originate from uncertainty about the future or sadness from the past. You must understand that neither of these two times, future or past, exist. Your only reality is the one you have today.
Recover your self-confidence by become fully aware today. If you think that you don’t have much, simply remember that you are alive for one more day. Look around you and you’ll see that you are surrounded by people who love you and who consider you important.
