Loving Yourself Is Easier Than It Seems

Loving Yourself Is Easier Than It Seems

Last update: 24 June, 2016

We all want to be loved and respected as human beings. But in order for that to happen, you have to be consistent with loving yourself. And this is much easier than it seems…

Remember that we project onto others how we really think and feel about ourselvesIn this article, we invite you to take a deep breath and follow some of our advice. You’ll find a pleasant sense of inner balance and comfort, and you’ll start to love yourself. So try it!

Don’t compare yourself with others

We all know that we’re unique, irreplaceable humans. We all achieve our goals in a different way. Avoid unnecessarily comparing yourself with the people around you and finding “mistakes” that you think you’ve made.

All this will do is make you feel frustrated with yourself, and possibly inhibit your true talents and unique potential. Every one of us has gone through different experiences and relationships, so there’s no point in comparing ourselves.

Be active

How we take care of ourselves on the inside is reflected on the outside. Sports and physical activity not only keep you in shape, but they also make you feel serene, whole, and in harmony with yourself. Start to love and accept your body the way it is.

Spend more time with your friends

True friends are forever. They’re there through both the good and the bad. Learn to value your friends and offer them the best of yourself, and they’ll be there forever. Don’t forget that “two heads are better than one,” and even more so when it comes to enjoying a full life.

Take time for yourself

Spending time by yourself allows you to listen to yourself, value yourself, and maintain a healthy sense of peace. This is how you can start to love yourself. After a hard day at work, there’s nothing wrong with spending a quiet night at home and saying no to a tempting plan with your friends or your partner.

Break your routine

Take a chance, leave your comfort zone, and discover new places. Taking a walk through places you’ve never been will allow you to discover and experience new sensations, feel alive, and learn new things.

If somebody hurts you, let them go

Remember that people who cause you emotional harm don’t belong in your life. You can give them a chance and talk about things, of course. But if the negative situation continues afterwards, you can’t change them.

Both people need to meet each other halfway in a relationship, and if one person doesn’t want to do their part, there’s no point in wasting your energy. Let them go and you won’t be constantly pulling their weight anymore. You deserve to rest.

Tell people how much you love them

We all have to leave this life at some point. Part of living and enjoying life is unconditionally loving the people around you. Don’t be ashamed to tell your mother, uncle, brother, friend, or partner how much you love them.

When they’re not here anymore, you’ll regret not having taken advantage of the chance to share those precious words with them. It’s better not to leave anything unsaid.

Take care of yourself

Your emotional state depends on how you take care of yourself. We are on the outside what we are on the inside, don’t forget that. Taking care of your body and getting exercise will keep you in shape and help get rid of all the stress and negative energy that comes from emotions that you haven’t been able to manage properly.

“One day, you will certainly, suddenly find yourself; and that, only that, can be either the happiest or the most bitter moment of your life.”

-Pablo Neruda-

Laugh at yourself

Your mistakes can turn into laughter. How? By not taking things so seriously and remembering that we make mistakes so that we can learn from them. Many scientific studies confirm that laughter is one of the best physical and emotional means of overcoming negative emotions and stress. Also, smiling makes you and those around you feel good, and it’s a good first step towards loving yourself.

Remember that life is not about pleasing others

Accept yourself and love yourself the way you are. Loving yourself is easier than it seems. Remember the wise words of the Buddha“You deserve your own love and loyalty more than anyone else in the world.” We’re often too worried about what other people will say, or whether they’re okay with our actions, actions that make us feel like our true selves. Learn to ignore everything that’s conditioned you.

Doing good will bring good things to your life

Karma exists. It’s a divine power that helps us learn from life every day. Remember that “you reap what you sow.”

I once learned that if you want to help the people you love, you have to consistently lead by example. Take responsibility for what you say and do, accept the consequences, and practice what you preach.
