The Last Drop of Meaning That Flows From the Fountain of Life
There comes a moment when we hit rock bottom, there is no meaning in anything, and we feel like we have exhausted ourselves both physically and mentally. There is no more life, no more meaning. We have hit absolute rock bottom and the pain will not let us keep fighting. The fountain of life is completely dry.
We have all felt lost, exhausted. At some time, our strength has abandoned us and we have thought that we were in the middle of a raging sea without any way to calm it. It is normal, we make hundreds of decisions each day, and it is not strange for us to rack up a few bad ones. This happens both with our day-to-day decisions and with those that bear greater weight.
The question remains of how to return to the ship that we are the captain of. You just have to connect the dots again, in such a way that you form a figure that you recognize, that you can break away from, and where you can rest.
“You can’t direct the wind, but you can adjust your sails”
-Chinese proverb-
Live your life intensely
This is a maxim that many of us achieve. We live in the present as much as we can, to the extent that we cannot endanger our future too much, damage the image that we have of ourselves, or hurt those around us. But sometimes this is difficult and it is then that the lack of meaning starts to become noticeable.
Do not let yourself be carried away by a bad time. Clearly time will pass before our eyes at times and we stop really living to be like “rag dolls” that eat, go to work, return home, and lock themselves up in a routine that causes them that senselessness that brings about so much fear.
Sometimes we even lock ourselves in the past, reliving painful memories that stop us from moving forward. Other times, though, we focus so much on the future that we forget to enjoy what we have in the present, simply postponing it.
“Therefore, so long as we have life, let us live each day as intensely as if it were our last”
-Bernardo Stamateas-
Let us push aside the past and future, take a bit of time for yourself and enjoy each moment as if it were your last. It is difficult, but everything that you do in your life should be enjoyable for you. So live it intensely, make every second full of meaning.
Give yourself up to others
If your life has stopped having any meaning and you want to choose “an easy path,” the first thing you must do is give yourself up and share your existence with the rest of the world. This will teach you to love, respect, and value your life. Going out with our eyes closed often dissipates the fog that makes us feel lost; it is as if through others, we could arrive to ourselves, somehow inverting the path.
By protecting those we love and who love us, we also protect our meaning. We strengthen our support system in such a way that when there is a danger of falling, we do not fall very far before someone lends us a hand. Moreover, it will not be just any hand, but one that knows us and knows how to pick us up.
“Nobody is the master of your happiness, so do not put your joy, your peace, your life in the hands of anyone else”
-Anonymous-
Love, respect, share, give yourself up. But at the same time, be free. Free to find meaning in your own life.
Enrich your life each and every day
When we see the years passing by and we look back, sometimes we believe that we have wasted time: that there are things that we wanted to do and we have not done, that you would have liked to repair some damage coming from a misunderstanding, that you would have tried it again or not so often…
You see an empty life in the past, full of experiences that were never brought to an end because of your fears and your insecurities. You had dreams, of course you did! But you never managed to realize them and they remain mere fantasies.
Make your life full of the meaning that it deserves so that when you get to an old age and look back, you are satisfied with the great strokes that you have traced, even if you would have liked to change some detail. That you do not have to regret anything, that everything you wanted to do has been done.
You have probably left many things unfinished, but this is normal! We also cannot take on everything, but you have already done the most important thing for you. Make each day count; if you want to have experiences, live them without limits and without fear.
“Make it count.”
-Titanic-
Your life has meaning, but you have to make an effort to find it. Do not think about tomorrow, think about today. Leave the past behind and start putting into practice everything that you would like to do. It is the time to stop dreaming and start fulfilling our dreams with actions.
