All of us are capable of letting our inner light shine if we explore our inner-selves with awareness. Each human being is a wealth of wisdom. However, many people don’t allow everything they learn to shine through.

We can compare this situation with the simple act of turning on a lamp. The connection is there, and the energy is available. All the mechanisms that transfer the energy to the light bulb are there. All you have to do is press the switch. Letting the light inside of you shine is similar. You just have to give order to the mechanisms that are already there and let the energy flow.

“”If you want to be wise, learn to question fairly, to listen carefully, respond calmly and keep quiet when you have nothing to say”.

-Johann Kaspar Lavater-

Eastern sages have given us valuable clues about the best way to let our inner light shine. All you need is the will to do it. The rays that shine through will help light your path. They might even be a guiding light for others. Here are some of the steps you can take that help you make it happen.

Connect to your inner sage

Every day is a lesson. Some people look for it and find it. Others prefer to turn the page as soon as possible. They only focus on what is coming next. That kind of behavior is a sign of disconnect with who they really are.

Reflection for a short time every day is enough. Think about what you have achieved in one day, and what you have lost. Consider how you advanced, and in what ways you moved backwards. This can help you learn valuable lessons and develop your own wisdom. It will help you shine your inner light.

If you want to shine your inner light, just listen

Listening is a high order skill of the mind and spirit. It means leaving your prejudices aside and allowing the other person to express themself with total freedom. A good listener makes the speaker feel like they are writing their story on a blank page.

This is only possible when you have a deep respect for the other person and you can fully open yourself to them. Respectful and loving listening is one way to let your inner light shine. More than anything else, it helps other people listen to themselves without interference.

Focus on your dreams

Where there are dreams, there is life. And where there is life, there is also light. Another way to let your inner light shine is to focus your desires. That means setting meaningful objectives and goals for yourself and not giving up on the way to reach them.

Fighting for your dreams lights you up on the inside and out. It inspires you to be better, to persevere and to be tenacious. It also inspires others. She who sets out on a search for her desires is an open book for other people. She is teaching by example. The world is a better place when everyone fights for what they love.

Learn to express yourself with love

Love is much more than a romantic feeling, and those who feel it are fortunate. The very experience of love is enriching. Love is a feeling that gives life a warm and comforting light – it makes everything look different.

What we are talking about here isn’t romantic love, although that is included. We can experience love for any living creature, for the landscape, for life itself. If there is something that helps us shine our inner light, it is love.

This is a feeling that you have to express, it can’t remain just a feeling. Gestures, words, and actions are ways that love can manifest itself. When people express themselves with love, they light up their surroundings. They capture the best of others and they nourish and feed those around them.

Seek out that which feeds your soul

There is no way to shine your inner light if you don’t cultivate inner peace. This world overstimulates us, and this stimulation can cause spiritual turbulence. Haste, anger, rejection… There are many things in this life that conspire against our tranquility.

That’s why it’s so important to find spaces that nourish your spirit. These can be physical or abstract spaces. We recommend that you design your own ritual to find calm and peace. Finding your light is impossible unless your mind is a placid mirror that reflects it.

We are all light. Inside of each one of us is a wise old sage capable of making the world a better place. The world we live in often forces us to look outward instead of turning our gaze in. Don’t let that happen. Focus on tuning into your inner self and finding your light.
