3 Easy Steps to Pamper Yourself

3 Easy Steps to Pamper Yourself

Last update: 30 August, 2018

Perhaps taking care of yourself is not your main priority right now, but it should be. You might even want to, but duty calls and you don’t want to “waste time”. Work, studies, family, your significant other… They’re all important and deserve your attention, but what you might be forgetting is that you also deserve attention. It’s not selfish to want to take care of yourself.

In fact, taking care of yourself is not only okay, it’s necessary. I don’t mean spoiling yourself in every aspect possible but pampering yourself and treating yourself. You don’t need to go the extra mile in other to take care of yourself, small details will do the job. If you take care of others, if you like catering to them and making them happy, why not do the same for yourself?

“The greatest of follies is to sacrifice health for any other kind of happiness.”

-Arthur Schopenhauer-

Spend some time pampering yourself

Pampering yourself doesn’t mean spending tons of money and buying everything you like. On the contrary, it means attending to your physical, mental, and spiritual health. There might be some harmful things you like and that you think make you feel relaxed (drugs, alcohol, tobacco). But I can guarantee that taking care of yourself is the last thing you’re doing while consuming them.

Here are some small suggestions to pamper yourself. Doing these things is like taking a happiness pill: it’ll be pleasant for your whole being. Their effects might not be extremely longlasting, but they last enough for them to give you a boost of energy and confidence to move forward.

Ask yourself how you feel

How are you going to take care of yourself if you don ‘t even know how you feel? Checking up on your emotional state is vital for you to really know how you’re doing and what you should do for yourself.

Just how you ask other people how they’re feeling, do the same thing for yourself. Remember: don’t lie to yourself, be 100% honest. Take a couple of minutes of your day to make sure you’re doing OK. This is the first step you should take if you want to pamper yourself. In fact, knowing how you truly feel will give you an idea of what to do next in your pampering routine.

Give yourself a massage

You might not know this, but self-massages are a real thing! They’re very practical because you can give them to yourself at any minute and they’re very beneficial. Besides, who knows your body and what you’re feeling better than yourself?

You’ll find thousands of videos on the internet that show you how to give yourself small massages in order to release some tension. It’s important to not e that, if you’re in severe pain, you should definitely see a professional. However, if you just need to relieve some tension in certain parts of your body, self-massages are the way to go.

There are a few massaging devices you could buy if you want to be more precise with your massages. There are electronic devices for massaging your back, feet, and even your face. They’re great tools that will complement your self-massages and will make you relax even more.

Take a real bath

You might think baths are a lot of work and, since you have so many things to do, it’s basically impossible for you to take one. So you just decide to hop in the shower and call it a day. But taking baths every once in a while has its benefits. In fact, you could turn it into a ritual to relax your body after a stressful day.

Fill up the bathtub, pour some bath salts in it, some oils, and any other product that you might want to add. Enjoy your bath time listening to your favorite music, reading articles, watching your favorite TV show, or in complete silence, it’s your choice! Take this time to give yourself a facial or hydrate your hair as well.

Taking baths is so much more than just aesthetic care. It’s a mental and spiritual cleansing. It allows you to reconnect with yourself and your needs.

Read a book

You may not have realized this, but we read a lot during the day. From work documents to emails to instruction books to recipes and so on. This is why some people don’t consider reading as a pampering activity, but it actually is.

Reading is one of those great things that allows you to travel to other places and in time, get to know other realities, other people. Choose a book you’ve been interested in for a while or pick one randomly. Just let your mind relax and immerse yourself in the story.

Reading allows your mind and spirit to rest. It helps you release tension, see things differently, live new experiences, and open your mind.

Don’t feel guilty for taking care of yourself

It’d be very selfish for you to expect others to take care of you instead of doing it yourself, wouldn’t it? Start by loving yourself in order to love others. At the end of the day, you know yourself better than anyone else.

Dedicating yourself a little bit of time every day will make you feel more willing to do what you have to do. In fact, you’ll have so much more energy, you’ll be able to do more things than you had planned (without pushing yourself too hard, of course). It’ll definitely help you be more productive and focus on your studies and work.

So what are you waiting for? Start taking care of yourself today! Your body and mind will thank you.
