María Alejandra Castro Arbeláez

Psychologist


Psychologist specialized in clinical psychoanalysis and neuroscience. His lines of research revolve around the relationship between psychoanalysis and art, so his area of interest is cultural psychology. She is a professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra and a doctoral student in Neuroscience at the University of Salamanca.

About the author

Graduated in Psychology from the Universidad del Rosario, Bogotá, Colombia (2015). She has a Master's degree in Clinical Psychoanalysis (2016) from the University of Bologna and a Master's degree in Neuroscience from the University of Salamanca (2018). She is currently studying for a doctorate in Neuroscience at the latter institution.

She has published a couple of scientific articles: Impact of familiar olfactory stimulation on self-awareness and The relationship between art and madness. She is also co-author of the book Cultural psychology: art, education, work (2020). She has participated in neuroscience conferences. In addition, she has worked as a clinical psychologist and teacher both in Colombia and in Spain.

For several years he has been working on research on the connection between art and psychology. She is currently a professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra , psychotherapist, and content editor.
