I Have Very Little, But This Little Bit Fills My Soul
In order to be happy, we only need very little. Now, that little bit shouldn’t be crumbs or the leftovers that others leave behind to feed a self-centered love. That little bit should fill our souls, it should dignify us as people. Thus, let’s never settle for the broken pieces that others offer us as if it was gold.
We know that nowadays, these approaches are on the rise, approaches somewhere between positive psychology and spirituality. These approaches emphasize the need to learn to value the little things or to be happy with less, with what’s essential. Ideas such as “happiness means realizing that nothing is too important” can without a doubt confuse us a bit.
“The second you settle for less than what you deserve, you obtain even less than that which you settle for.”
-Mauren Dowd-
Everything has its nuances, and in this aspect the nuances are big. First of all, we should be clear on the fact that it’s not a good idea to settle for less than we deserve. Sometimes, convincing ourselves that “the minimum is enough” can strand us within barren gardens. Some people tell themselves that the earth is good and fertile, and that sooner or later seeds will sprout and spectacular flowers will bloom.
