In Love, You Have to Be Brave

In Love, You Have to Be Brave

Last update: 14 February, 2016

We’re immersed in a time of change, and human beings seem more and more disconnected with each other. We walk around with our heads down, glued to our screens, with jobs  that don’t satisfy us, and we’re always running around in a hurry. But there’s something timeless and majestic that can change the existence of a person: love.

And although love seems forgotten, or at least postponed to make room for other “more important” matters, you should dream about it, taste it, feel it…soak it up!

There are many kinds of love, but we all crave and need romantic love, although we may try to deny or forget it.

“With the whole world crumbling, we picked this time to fall in love”

-Casablanca-

Those couples who face everything and fall in love, even though behind them people are saying “No! You don’t understand the risk you’re taking!”

But…what risk?

Is it not a risk to live by yourself? Yet many of us insist on it. Why would you give up something that gives fire to your heart and peace to your spirit?

“When you talked earlier about after a few years how a couple would begin to hate each other by anticipating their reactions or getting tired of their mannerisms, I think it would be the opposite for me. I think I can really fall in love when I know everything about someone, the way he’s going to part his hair, which shirt he’s going to wear that day, knowing the exact story he’d tell in a given situation. I’m sure that’s when I know I’m really in love.”

-Before Sunset-

We can never know how long love will last, but intimate love fulfills a function for our species and for our hearts.

Intimate love shows us everything. We express our daily unhappiness, and we’re listened to with a loving touch and an encouraging kissIntimate love comes from an encounter between two people, but also an encounter between two souls.

It is desire shown through a look, passion released with a kiss. Intimate love is the confluence of two worlds.

Romance is like that; it’s a halo of inexhaustible mystery that you never want to end. Not with just any person, but with the only one that makes you feel like a better person, the only one you want to keep looking at with that fascination of desire respect, and affection.

“I love that you get cold when it’s 71 degrees out. I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich. I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts. I love that after I spend the day with you, I can still smell your perfume on my clothes. And I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night.”

-When Harry Met Sally-

Some lovers are faced with distance, tests of destiny that seem to pick on them. Others are faced with gossip, negative opinions and jokes. But in the end, the biggest conflict is with oneself. Because only when we get to know and love ourselves can our love for another person be sincere.

And even though everything around you seems to break you apart, isolate you, and make things more difficult for you, you should understand that although the greatest love stories are all different, but they all have a common denominator: the courage to believe in and fight for it. True lovers stay together because their hearts have reasons that logic and society don’t understand.

So brave lovers, passionate lovers, don’t be afraid; you are the inspiration for great stories and great challenges.

It’s good to remember that not everything will be perfect, but it will be real.

“The greatest thing you‘ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.”

-Moulin Rouge-
