Though life and it’s circumstances have separated us, it was worth it …

I still remember the way you walked, the way you looked at me… The way we would laugh together about the silliest things … just because we were happy.

Life and it’s circumstances have separated us but it was worth it…It was worth it to share secrets, hugs, kisses and desires with you…

Life and it’s circumstances have separated us but it was worth it…

Life has given us a gift, that of knowing and loving ourselves and that’s all that matters. I’m not going to fill myself with regrets because you’re no longer here. I can’t go around saying: “I’ve lost him forever, I’m so unlucky!” “Fate took him from me!” The simple fact that I shared my life with you for even a small portion is more than enough for me to feel blessed.

Life and it’s circumstances have separated us but it was worth it…

We do not remember days, we remember moments
-Cesare Pavese-

I won’t cry because you’re gone; you made me happy. You made me believe in love again; in respect, in complicity.

You made me believe in the perfect combination of two imperfect beings. Even though I would have preferred to keep walking by your side.

Even though life dragged you far away from me like a strong hurricane and I never saw you again, I don’t care. Your memory will live with me forever.

You may meet other lovers, and I know I won’t close myself off. Life has the ability to surprise you without you even noticing. It’s also possible that love may never again come knocking on my door…Honestly, how could anyone ever know?

But no matter what, your sweet kisses and your sweet words and the way you would calm me down when I was at my worst…Those things will always they have a special place in my heart.

You may meet other lovers, and I’m not choosing to hide. Life may very well surprise me.

And no matter what, the way you would kiss me on the forehead and on the nose; the way you would take my hands and look at them in a way that made me feel special; the way you would lift me up in the the air and make us feel like we were the owners of happiness… Those things will always they have a special place in my heart.

The power of memories

Memories are a person’s essence, from their experiences and moments. They are part of our history and the course of our lives.

Whether good or bad, they have great power within us because within seconds they can give us goosebumps, cause us to shed tears or simply get us to smile.

As mentioned in the previous story, which despite being aware that it wasn’t meant to be, the memory of what was lived and what we felt lives on. A memory feeds us, it gives us strength.

That being said, even though the relationship didn’t go on for whatever reason, you always have the memories, the essence, the seal. And even if you restart your life, you’ll always have the memory of it all.

But be cautious and don’t hold on to memories any more than is recommended and needed, because they’re very good at leaving open wounds.

Keeping fond memories of the people you have loved is good and positive. What we shouldn’t do is stay stuck in the past.

Life goes on and we have to continue being happy and opening our minds to new experiences and new people who can bring us happiness, again.

The memories we relive in a positive way benefit us and help us to feel that life has given us a gift and therefore we should feel fortunate.

Besides, there’s always something to learn from our experiences.

The best memory is that which forgets nothing, but injuries.  Write kindness in marble and write injuries in the dust.

-Persian proverb-

Memories are a part of life. When those people are gone, they help us feel close to them again, even if just for a little while. We must relive them with joy and not with sadness and nostalgia. Keep the best parts and and learn from the worst ones.

We must not use memories to torment ourselves about what we have lost. If we had no memories, our life would be empty. Maybe we would have nothing of the past so complain, but neither would have nothing to rejoice.

Maybe we wouldn’t have anything from our past to be sad about, but we also wouldn’t have anything to be glad about.

Our memories have life.

… Therefore let the moon
Shine on thee in thy solitary walk;
And let the misty mountain winds be free
To blow against thee: and in after years,
When these wild ecstasies shall be matured
Into a sober pleasure, when thy mind
Shall be a mansion for all lovely forms,
Thy memory be as a dwelling-place
For all sweet sounds and harmonies…

-William Wordsworth-
