5 Ways To Easily Relax

Last update: 10 October, 2016

There are always a variety of issues that require our attention and concern, but we shouldn’t be overtaken with worry. We must also recognize our mind needs time to be calm. Tranquility and relaxation allow us to be more creative, have a better mood, better relationships, prevent disease and spend more pleasant moments with family and friends. That’s to say, being relaxed gives us a better quality of life.

That is why it is very important to know some of the options that help us relax when we are experiencing a stressful moment.

1. Awareness

It is very common to enter a state of stress over issues that really do not deserve such concern. This is usually due to our needs for immediacy. We usually hope things will happen, will work for us or will go much faster. It is therefore important to be aware of the thoughts that we are stressing over and identify whether it really is a factor that deserves that kind of attention.

2. Breathe

Breathing is one of the vital bodily functions to keep us alive and we generally do this without paying much attention. But when we enter a state of strong emotions, stress, despair or any other kind and we want to relax, we can do some breathing exercises. To relax, we can become conscious for a few minutes of our inhalation and exhalation.

3. Soothing thoughts

Soothing thoughts serve to change the perspective we have at the moment through words. Simple phrases like “breathe”, “calm down”, “do not pressure yourself” can be helpful. We must remember that the mind is a perfect machine that has the ability to make us feel something or other, according to what we need and want.

4. Do some kind of activity

Occupying our attention by some activity can help us forget some of those things that concern us for a moment and when our attention returns we generally have a different perspective. Any activity can help: running, cooking, drawing, making crafts, reading, watching a movie, etc.

5. Sleep

Many times we feel that we have no options or are very focused thinking about the same subject. This causes our mind to be unable to properly assimilate ideas and we get stressed. Therefore sleep is a relaxation strategy because in this way our mind can rest. Even those who have jobs or strenuous activities can sleep a few minutes and will see a significant change in their daily activity.

Staying relaxed is vital to caring for our physical and emotional health. The best thing is that we can achieve it in very simple ways. It is advisable to use these techniques even if we do not need them, and in that way we can make sure we are always well.
